Changes

Last week Matt stayed with Gabriel all week while I went to census training. That same week he decided to learn to stand up in his crib and jump. SO, we lowered his crib to the lowest setting. He is still moving all around - especially at bed time. He also started saying DaDa again. This time, he is saying it to Matt - so cute!

He is pulling up on everything now - in the tub, in the living room - whatever he can find. He still army crawls, but is on his hands and knees often and for real crawls a teeny bit. He loves to practice walking while holding on to someone's hands.

Yesterday we went to Monticello and he started waving - his first wave was to Christina aka "Chri-Nanny". Sometimes he waves with both hands, but most of the time he does just the one.

He can sign "all done" now. Since he learned how to wave the sign has turned into more of a wave.

When someone is holding him he will reach out to show you what he wants or where we should walk. It's kinda cute - but then I am realizing how much he has us wrapped around his finger ;).

Two weeks ago we called 911. In retrospect it was a knee jerk reaction of a first time parent, but if I was in that situation again I'd do the same thing. Gabriel had been running a fever and he was up.. he was shuddering and it was just weird what he was doing. It was 1 am and we were just watching him act really strange... then he started vomiting but he wasn't breathing. I don't know, but it really freaked us out. The paramedics were helpful and made sure everything was OK. Three days later the fever FINALLY went away. Dr. Oliver says he had some sort of virus or something.

Next Sunday is my first Mother's Day and we are getting him dedicated at Genesis Church. Can't wait!

Crawling

My little man is crawling. He started his army crawl the last week in March, before the 25th, which means he started crawling when he was 8 months old! :) I'm so proud of him. He seems a little timid about the whole thing, and he's just taking his time figuring the whole thing out. He's much quicker about his army crawl now, and it's been about a week. He has started getting up on his hands and knees more now and rocking back and forth. So cute!

I have weaned him from sleeping in my bed. :( I'm a little sad about it, but I sure am enjoying the mornings! I am now able (for the first time EVER) to wake up before Gabriel. Ahhh to feel rested in the mornings. :) He's still waking up 2-3 times at night to nurse. I don't really mind that so much now that he's out of my bed.

New Things

Two front bottom teeth are in. Front right tooth is in. The tooth to the right of that tooth has pierced its way through and the tooth to the left of the front right tooth has poked through as well. What does that mean? That means that Gabriel has five teeth now. Awwwww :)

Check it out:

Gabriel is officially unswaddled. That doesn't mean that sleep is going well though. On the contrary, some nights he wakes up every two hours. Sigh. Last night he went to bed at 7:30 pm, woke up at 10:30 pm, 2 am, 4 am, and 6 am (that's when I brought him to bed with me). Not sure when he'll learn to sleep better but I hope it's soon!

I think Gabriel is going to crawl VERY soon. He can move around on the ground with his arms, army crawl, and roll to anywhere he wants to be. Sometimes we see him trying to get up on his knees. May day may day! Must. Baby. Proof. Soon.

Today I took him for a walk through downtown Quincy. He's so cute... he fell asleep on the way home. What a doll!

Season of Teeth

This must be the season of teeth. Or maybe this is just a common thing that will keep happening and happening....

Another tooth is coming in! This is the front and his right tooth. This one looks like it is causing him a lot of discomfort. He's VERY cranky and throws fits when something goes wrong - which he never used to do! Of course, this is making him sleep poorly as well. I'm so tired! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Another Tooth!

Gabriel got yet another tooth last week. Now he has his two front teeth (lower). With these teeth has come a fussy, fussy baby. Where is my angelic, never crying baby??

This week we're in Nashville, TN while Matt completes some FedEx training. Gabriel and I are hanging out in the hotel room/exploring Nashville - it's quite fun! I'm so thankful I'm a SAHM because I would not have this opportunity if I was still working.

Mama ~ Bababababa

This past Sunday, January 17th Gabriel just started saying mamamama and babababa all of the sudden. It was very cute! I hope he figures out soon that I'M mama. :)

A Tooth!

This week, which is also the first week of January 2010, Gabriel cut his first tooth. Looking at him, it is his lower left front tooth. He doesn't seem unhappy or uncomfortable because of it which is good. He sure is biting everything he can and almost yelling while he does it. I'm scared he'll bite me!! Ack!

One week ago I had my last day at work. I am officially a stay at home mom. It's been a bit crazy transitioning to this - traveling and house demolition (Matt put in new shower plumbing) so I haven't quite settled into this role yet.

Gabriel is a good sleeper. Always has been. He goes to bed around 7 pm, and I feed him around 10 when I go to bed. Usually I only have to feed him 1-2 times in the night before he greets me good morning at 6:30 am or so (yawn!). During the day he takes about 3 naps and usually 1-2 of them are pretty long (2 hours or so).

I've been trying to feed him some purees as of late - which he hates! He shudders and gags and even vomits it back up (due to his gagging). I often wonder if I will be breastfeeding him his whole life! My new plan is to just feed him either rice or whole grain cereal until he tolerates that and THEN add more variety to his diet. We'll see how that works!

Right now he's taking a nap. When he wakes up I hope I can go out for a short walk and I hope it's not too cold! Lately it's been FREEZING here. Literally!
